Thanksgiving time

Sunday night I went walking around in the evening to see the plant market and listen to my iPod Spanish lessons. At about 7:15 I noticed a crowd forming near the entrance to Chapultepec park--where the big felt Christmas tree is. I rushed home to get my camera, thinking they would light it at 7:30. I came back, snapped a few of these photos, and waited until after 9 when I lost my patience. All these people had come out to watch the tree lighting, with their children and happy faces, and all they received were 2 hours of Coca Cola ads, cheap banter from fresa MCs, and a dopey performance by a teen pop group. By the time I left people were leaving to get their kids to bed, and the crowd was chanting "arbol! arbol! arbol!" What a pity. On one hand it's great that Coca Cola would sponsor this event, but they ruin it by exploiting the people and abusing their time. At least there was great food and novelty items to cheer people up. I bought fresh honeycomb and 2 succulents to brighten my mood. There are more photos over there -----> in the "mexico" album if you are bored.
