On Sundays, the major street Reforma is closed to autos. People from all over the city come out on their bikes and rollerblades to get some "fresh" air. Right now there is an art exhibit lining the sidewalks with giant versions of the famous Oaxacan figurines called "alebrijes." I'll post a picture. The bright colors contradict the rather gruesome states of these fantastic animal creatures. So this street is a block from where I am staying, and the past 2 Sundays I just cruise around eating nuts from a street vendor.
Yesterday was my first Saturday and I discovered the park 5 min. away called Bosque Chapultepec. It was my intention to go running, but quickly I realized at 7,000 feet this was going to be a problem. But I did get lost which allowed me to walk for several hours, and I discovered a 1800 acre fantasy land. There are so many little places to discover. A few I found were a small design library, a greenhouse botanical garden, a garden alcove with speakers broadcasting classical music, a zoo, art museums, and many many young couples making out in whatever privacy they can find.

Today was a different experience. I met 3 coworkers in Roma--a colonia of the city--to scour the area for Se Renta signs. I have until Dec. 1 to find my own place, and it's proving to be a difficult challenge. So we walked around taking pictures and calling numbers, finally resigning to a late brunch with cocktails. It was bourgeois mexico and I liked it.
